A Forest Encounter
For most of their life, giant pandas live a solitary existence, only rarely meeting up with others of their species. When a female is on heat, she homes in on a male by detecting his scent and by scentmarking more frequently herself. Pandas are at their most vocal when courting, exchanging a variety of mating calls such as barks, bleats, chirps and moans.
